Production Blog: The Climax- Part 1
The first take is of a close-up shot of the car's stereo displaying the part of the song that starts my music video (3:37). The camera then is zoomed out to bring both Callie and Nijah into the frame. While in the frame, they lip-sync a spoken portion of the song depicting a conversation between two characters (Tyler, the creator and another woman). The second take is of Nijah partly out the window with her hair blowing in the wind. Though this scene is quite simple it took a lot of finesse. To actually capture this scene it took multiple takes. Ultimately, Nijah's car had to be driven alongside Callie's car (where Nijah was) with me hanging out the window to capture the final take. For the next two scenes, Imani had to get onto the roof of Callie's car to film. The first one was just a wide shot with Nijah standing with her hair blowing out of the sunroof. This correlates to the part of the song where Tyler says, "I love it when your hair... blows...hanging out the sunroof". The second of the two was a bird's eye view shot through the sunroof. This scene just highlights the friendship meant to be portrayed through the music video. The The fifth scene was a take that we filmed at Chick-fil-A where the camera pans recording a conversation between three group members (Imani, Callie, and I). The sixth scene is another filmed in Chick-fil-A. T. However, this one is an over-the-shoulder shot taken over Imani's shoulder highlighting the same theme of casual conversation as the first one.
That was the first half of my filming process. It was honestly loads of fun and my entire group had a blast both filming and hanging out afterwards. I look forward to the next half. Until then, please take care of yourself and I look forward to seeing you next time. It's been Adrian, signing off.
